Elstree and Borehamwood Youth Council

VolunteerAdvice & Information

The Elstree and Borehamwood Youth Council is a group of young people aged 10-19 who are trying to make a difference to the local area and improve the stereotype of young people. We meet at least once a month, but sometimes we meet more often to work to improve further issues and discuss more that we did not get to at the first meeting.

The Elstree and Borehamwood Youth Council is split into three subgroups:

1) the publicity drive
2) the business card group
3) the environmental campaign

The publicity drive is trying to promote the Youth Council and make people aware of the work we are doing and get more members. The business card group aims to get local businesses to be involved in a youth discount card. The environmental campaign is trying to make young people aware of the environment and have recently got some trees to plant.

Since being on the youth council, we have had the opportunity to work as a team and have got a voice in the community.

The qualifying age range of a Youth Councillor is from their 10th birthday (if in year 6 of primary school) to their 19th birthday. Anyone within this range and residing or at school in Elstree or Borehamwood, is eligible

The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
