HealthLearning & Careers

The Samaritans telephone helpline is available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress, despair or suicidal thoughts. If there's something troubling you, then get in touch.

The Samaritans can help you explore your options, understand your problems better, or just be there to listen.

Talk to them any time you like, in your own way, and off the record – about whatever’s getting to you. You don’t have to be suicidal.

Round the clock
The Samaritans are there for you when you need them, which could be any time of day or night.

You can talk for as long as you like, as many times as you like.

They don't rush, interrupt or push anyone out of the door. They let you lead the conversation at your own pace.

There are no waiting lists and no assessments.

No records
The Samaritans don’t pass on what people tell them.

For some, they are the only place they can turn to without fear of repercussions. For others that might worry about burdening friends or family, they offer a safe place to turn.
