YC Hertfordshire has an Access Point at the XC Centre in Hemel Hempstead. At the Hemel Hempstead Access Point young people from the Dacorum area can get information, advice, guidance and support on education, work, training and volunteering. We also offer advice on drugs, finance, health, including sexual health and contraception, housing and much more. YC Hertfordshire is the new name for Youth Connexions.
In the YC Hertfordshire Hemel Hempstead Access Point you can get information, advice and guidance on a wide range of questions and issues such as:
- Benefits and finance
- Drugs and alcohol
- Stop smoking
- Housing and homelessness
- Jobs and careers
- Self esteem
- Sexual health and contraception (free condoms and chlamydia testing)
- Youth work and positive activities
We also have PCs that can be used for research, developing CVs and searching for jobs and training. Trained staff and counsellors can offer you the opportunity to sit down and discuss a wide range of topics confidentially and in private - either drop in to the Access Point or telephone to make an appointment.
Sexual health and contraception
At the YC Hertfordshire Hemel Hempstead Access Point you can get sexual health information, support and advice. The service is free and confidential and includes:
- Free condoms through the c-card Hertfordshire scheme
- Free chlamydia testing
- Free pregnancy testing
- Sexual and general health advice
What is the c-card Hertfordshire scheme?
c-card Hertfordshire is a sexual health scheme for young people aged 13-25 that aims to help you:
- Make the right CHOICES regarding relationships
- Get free CONDOMS to prevent unplanned pregnancies and reduce sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Get tested for CHLAMYDIA and other STIs
- Understand the types of CONTRACEPTION available
YC Hertfordshire enables young people aged 13-19, up to 24 for those with learning difficulties and up to 21 for those leaving care, to access this scheme.
When you register you will be issued with a card which contains a unique ID number. You will then be able to use this to pick up free condoms from any registration or easy access point in Hertfordshire where you see the c-card logo.
The YC Hertfordshire Hemel Hempstead Access Point is a c-card registration and easy access (distribution) point.
The c-card and the information, advice and guidance services are available:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 2-5pm
You can drop in without an appointment within these hours or call first to make an appointment if you wish.

The XC Centre is fully wheelchair accessible.
