This YC Hertfordshire youth project is for young adults aged 18-24 with learning disabilities. It is a safe space where you can meet new people and make new friends. You'll also learn new skills to help you become happier and more independent. We talk about good mental health and well being, healthy eating and the world of work. Most of all you'll have lots of fun! YC Hertfordshire is the new name for Youth Connexions.
If you come to the YC Hertfordshire Project for Young Adults with Learning Disabilities at Breaks Manor Youth Centre in Hatfield you can use all the great facilities at the youth centre and get involved in drama, music and the creative arts.
Every two weeks you can take part in sports and team games to keep you fit or do teambuilding exercises which will help with your motivation and movement. There are also opportunities for you to develop skills and complete sections of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
At this project you will learn as an individual about independent living skills, cooking skills and healthy eating.
We can also help you find out more about the world of work, looking at CVs, interview skills and volunteering opportunities.
You can also take part in trips and visits such as going climbing and bowling.
The activities are designed around you so they are flexible to the needs of the group.
Breaks Manor Youth Centre is partially wheelchair accessible.
Staff are experienced in working with young people with a variety of needs. When you join the project there is a small assessment to see if you need help with anything specific.
